Starting a small business in Uttar Pradesh (2026): costs, wages, rent, licences
Uttar Pradesh is low-cost and high-volume: wages, rents and menu prices are the lowest of the big north Indian states (₹10 tea is still common), per-capita income is ~58% of India's, and cash and udhaar stay important outside Lucknow and Noida. Power tariffs were frozen for 2026–27 but rural supply is rostered. Religious-calendar rules matter more here than elsewhere: Kanwar Yatra and Navratri meat closures, Magh Mela, Braj Holi, Ayodhya. CM-YUVA's interest-free ₹5 lakh loan is the most generous state start-up loan in this region.
