Starting a small business in Andhra Pradesh (2026): costs, wages, rent, licences
Andhra Pradesh is a coastal, agrarian, price-sensitive market with no single metro: Visakhapatnam is the largest city and Amaravati (the capital) is still being built, so Vijayawada–Guntur acts as the commercial hub. Petrol is the costliest in India (about ₹117.78/L) because of high state VAT on top of the 2026 oil shock, and commercial LPG is around ₹3,050–3,100. Legal wage floors are low (about ₹12.3–12.6k for helpers, VDA revised each April and October) and retail tariffs for FY27 were kept unchanged. Sankranti, not Diwali, is the biggest trading season, and coastal cyclones every Oct–Dec are the main event risk.
